Confused about which airport to fly into?
There are three airports accessible to Washington D.C.

This is the closest airport to downtown Washington, DC. This is the most convenient, but flights into this airport are limited and sometimes more expensive. You can get to your destination by metro, taxi, or super shuttle.
Dulles International Airport (IAD)
The airport is about a 40 minute drive from downtown Washington, DC without traffic. The best way to get to Washington D.C. form Dulles is by taxi or super shuttle. When pricing your flights, make sure you consider that that taxi with probably cost at least $40, so you might consider paying a little bit more to fly into Ronald Reagan.
Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI)
BWI is also about 40 minutes from downtown and Southwest Airlines flies there. There is a train that goes to Union Station in Washington D.C.

Getting Around in Washington:
1. If you fly into the Ronald Reagan airport, go to the information desk to ask about the best metro route to your hotel. There is a good possibility that there is a metro stop within a block of your hotel and you will pay a couple of dollars in transportation instead of $20+ for a taxi.

2. The best way to get to know the city is with a hop on/hop off bus tour. These double-decker buses take you to all the main spots and give you a tour along the way. You will see these buses advertised all over, just make sure when you are ready ride you know where the stops are.
