Rather than book you excursion in advance or at the hotel, go to the village area. There are a lot of vendors, so you can shop around and compare prices. The excursions will be cheaper than going through the travel agent or hotel.

Weather in La Fortuna:

I went to Costa Rica in December and traveled to different areas. The weather changed often, so sometimes it was hot and sometimes it was cool. Really check into the weather because you may want to pack layers.
