You Must Know From Singapore:

The government are pretty strict with rules to keep people in order (the result is a meticulous city that is clean and safe). I definitely recommend not to cross the street against the light. The person next to me was fined over $100 for doing this. As far as rumors of being arrested for chewing gum goes, you can chew it, but you can't distribute it to other people. In other words, don't be a gum dealer.

What to Do / Activities in Singapore:

The night zoo is a highly publicized tourist attraction. Unless you really love zoos, you can skip it. For me, it was a waste of time and money. I hardly saw any animals. The only cool part was the show they put on, but the show didn't make the whole trip worthwhile. When I was there, there were offering admissions discounts to those who had airplane tickets from Tiger airways. That promotion may not be current, but try to find out what discounts they have before you go so you can bring whatever proof necessary if you decide to go.

Getting Around in Singapore:

The best way to get to know the city is with a hop on/hop off bus tour. These double-decker buses take you to all the main spots and give you a tour along the way. You will see these buses advertised all over, just make sure when you are ready ride you know where the stops are.

Lodging in Singapore:

The best area to stay is on Orchard streets. That is the main tourist area where most things are happening.
