You Must Know from Male:

1. The airport is located on its own island and you have to take a boat or hydroplane to get to your resort destination. These only run during the day, so if your flight gets in at night, you will have to stay at the airport or in Male (capital). There is only one hotel at the airport in Male called the Hulhule Island Hotel. They charge resort prices for motel quality. For $1 you can take a boat to Male and stay in a hotel there for less. You still won’t get a 5 star hotel, but you at least you will get a better deal. The boat runs 24 hours and in less than a 10 minutes ride.

2. It is a Muslim country and you cannot bring alcohol into the country. They do serve alcohol at the resorts.

3. The mosquitos come out a dusk, so you may want to bring a pair of light weight pants and a light weight long sleeve shirt (as light as possible because it is hot) to wear to dinner and protect your skin from the mosquitos.

What to Do / Activities in Male:

If snorkling equipment is not included in your package and you enjoy snorkling, bring your own equipment. It is possible that you will snorkle every day or even several times a day. Because the islands.
